Kushal Sinha focuses on general corporate and commercial laws, in the Firm’s Infrastructure & Energy practice.

His expertise lies in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and investments across infrastructure sectors including renewable energy, digital infrastructure, power, ports, roads and highways, construction development as well as industrials across geographies.

Kushal’s expertise has led to him advising on many marquee and innovative deals for blue chip clients. These range from Videocon’s acquisition of participating interest in the Rovuna Oil Block in Mozambique (declared Global M&A Deal of the Year for Africa at the Global Legal Awards, 2014), EDF’s joint venture with ACME Cleantech to set up one of India’s first utility scale renewable energy joint ventures, Vertis Infrastructure Trust (a KKR backed InvIT) acquiring a portfolio of 11 highway assets from PNC Infratech in one of the largest M&A transactions in the transportation space till date, Aditya Birla Renewable’s INR 3000 crore fund raise from GIP/Blackrock, AMNSI’s INR 18000 crore acquisition of ports and power assets from Essar, Fortum’s fund raise from Norfund to set up one of India’s first e-mobility infrastructure platforms to the recently concluded data centre investment by Alpha Wave in Nxtra. In the Industrials space, Kushal has advised clients such as Hyundai, Premier Energies, The Sandur Manganese and Iron Ore Limited, JSW Steel Limited and Jindal Stainless Limited.

He actively collaborates with other practice groups including taxation, disputes, funds and capital markets not only on transactions but on ancillary aspects such as structuring of investments, exits or monetization.

Kushal’s prolific deal count in domestic and cross border transactions across infrastructure sectors has led him to be acknowledged as one of India’s Future Legal Leaders by the India Business Law Journal in 2023.

• Advised OMERS Infrastructure in relation to acquisition of 19.4% equity stake in Azure Power Global Limited from International Finance Corporation and IFC GIF Investment Company.
• Advised on Vertis Infrastructure Trust’s acquisition of 11 highway assets from PNC Infratech in one of the largest M&A transactions in the highways sector.
• Advised Gujarat Energy Limited on acquisition of assets worth USD 5.7 billion dollars across oil and gas sectors from Gujarat Government related entities by way of an MCA sanctioned scheme of arrangement.
• Advised airport concessionaire entities for Goa and Bhogapuram airports on their fund raise from NIIF.
• Advised Hexa Climate (an Isquared sponsored platform) on acquisition of shovel ready renewable projects from Datta Power.
