Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM) advised Tata Consumer Products in its recent ₹1.56 billion (US$21.3 million) acquisition of Kottaram Agro Foods from shareholders that included Aavishkaar Bharat Fund and Bennett Coleman and Company. Trilegal advised Kottaram Agro Foods, which owns the Soulfull brand of health and wellness food.
The deal was announced on 2 February and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of the 2021 financial year.

Tata Consumer Products, which is a listed member of the Tata Group, said the acquisition would allow it “to expand its product portfolio into the fast growing ‘on the table’ and ‘on the go’ categories and to participate in newer consumption occasions”.
