The Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, invited Dr. Shardul S. Shroff to present evidence on issues relating to the amendments proposed to the Companies Act 2013 and the Limited Liability Partnership Act 2008.

A key recommendation in relation to director disqualifications in related-party transactions made by Dr Shroff was taken note in detail by the committee in the report consolidating the deliberations. Other recommendations on the framework for the appointment of registered valuers, insolvency professionals and auditors as directors, and the “fit and proper” criteria for directors, the National Financial Reporting Authority, fast-track mergers and the appellate framework proposed under the Bill have also been considered as a part of the suggestions consolidated in the JPC report.
