Jogeshwar Mishra is a Partner in the Firm’s Patents Group, bringing over twelve years of specialised experience in the field of patents and designs.

He possesses substantial expertise in the filing and prosecution of patent and design applications within India, and is adept at conducting prior art and freedom to operate searches, undertaking patentability assessments, and providing strategic advice on all aspects of patents and designs. His counsel extends to post-grant compliance, commercialisation, and enforcement matters.

Jogeshwar’s contentious practice includes representing clients in opposition proceedings before the Indian Patent Office, as well as in appellate matters before various High Courts and, previously, the Intellectual Property Appellate Board. He offers comprehensive guidance to clients at every stage of the patent lifecycle, including the formulation and implementation of internal patent strategies. His practice spans a broad spectrum of technological domains, such as biotechnology, chemical sciences, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, atomic energy, mechanical engineering, electronics and telecommunications, software, and wind energy.

He has played a pivotal role in assisting clients with the development of patent strategies, both internally and in response to competitor portfolios. Jogeshwar is highly experienced in conducting prior art searches, as well as in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications, not only in India but also in key international jurisdictions, including the United States and Europe.

Jogeshwar is particularly skilled in devising strategies and presenting arguments in appellate proceedings before various High Courts. He also has notable experience advising on matters concerning the statutory exclusion of inventions under the Atomic Energy Act.

He has represented a distinguished clientele, including Dyson Technology Limited, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Oil and Natural Gas Company Ltd., Nippon Steel Corporation, Vestas Wind Systems A/S, Becton, Dickinson and Company, Nippon A&L Inc., Euro-Apex B.V., Nikon Corporation, Lutron Technology Company, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Atrogi AB, and PTC Therapeutics, Inc.

Jogeshwar’s academic credentials include a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology (Honours), Biochemistry, and Life Sciences from Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar; a Master’s degree in Biomedical Genetics from VIT University, Vellore; and an LL.B. (Honours in Intellectual Property Law) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
