Amit Singhania is a Partner with the Firm’s Tax practice group.
Amit works very closely on matters pertaining to cross border investments and financial services sector. He has recently finalized the structures for inbound investments for Idea Cellular, Essar Morgan, Rabo Bank, Mayfield, Canaan Advisors, Google, BMO Nesbitt Burns, etc. He has recently worked closely on matters pertaining to negotiating contracts and escrow mechanism in cross border buyouts. In this regard, he has advised Goldman Sachs, AT&T Inc., etc.
He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and other transaction advisory, where he provides holistic solutions to clients. Amit also advises clients on transfer pricing issues, strategizing tax litigation matters, representation before courts and tax authorities, and policy advocacy. Amit has recently represented Walmart in acquisition of Flipkart.
Amit is a customary orator at the Regional Council of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and has contributed articles on direct taxes in various leading journals and newspapers. Amit is a member of tax committee of CII, FICCI and ASSOCHAM. He is also the member of Study Circle of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal Bar Association, New Delhi.
Prior to joining Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, Amit has worked with PwC for four years.
